General information<\/h2>\n

Swiss history as national associations began in 1291 when 3 urban settlements joined together to fight the Roman Empire. Later number of cantons joined them and in 1499 they formed the Swiss Confederation (which is the official name of Switzerland), which assured safety and independence from the Empire. In the middle of 19th century the country’s constitution was adopted, providing a federal state structure.<\/span><\/p>\n

Switzerland remained neutral in all military conflicts, and has not participated in any of the world wars. Until 2002 Switzerland was not even a member of the UN. At present, the country is member of number of international groups and associations. The country’s economy is highly developed and the country is a leader in terms of GDP per capita. Economy is based on the manufacturing of chemical and medical products, precise instruments and electronics. Another important pillar of economic stability is banking sector, insurance and tourism development.<\/p>\n
